Approved Modalities
  • Yoga
A physical, mental and spiritual practice, Yoga is a Vedic tradition of India and the Himalayas dating more than 2,500 years. Classes are generally 1 - 1 ½ hrs in duration and incorporate physical postures and movement (asanas), breath exercises (pranayama), relaxation and concentration, philosophy, and meditation. Yoga benefits the physical and mental body by enhancing flexibility, improving muscle strength and tone, increasing body awareness, and promoting relaxation and calm.
  • Personal Training
Personal Trainers assist their clients in achieving health and fitness goals by providing general nutrition advice (within their scope of practice) and tailored fitness programs which may include flexibility, resistance and cardiovascular exercises. Personal Trainers are qualified to teach clients one-on-one or instruct group fitness classes in a variety of settings which can include gyms, outdoors, community centres, the client or trainer’s home, or a private business. Personal Trainers are not qualified to give medical or physical therapy advice, provide detailed meal plans, manual therapy, or counselling.
  • Fitness Instruction
Fitness Instructors lead diverse exercise programs, from aerobics to specialized activities like prenatal fitness, targeting various demographics and fitness goals. They teach in group settings at health clubs, community centers, and studios, focusing on cardio, resistance training, and overall wellness. While they may offer general nutrition guidance, they're distinct from Personal Trainers, requiring extra training for one-on-one sessions. Fitness Instructors lack the expertise to diagnose or treat medical conditions, emphasizing exercise's role in health rather than medical intervention. Their role is pivotal in motivating and educating clients to enhance physical fitness and lifestyle habits, promoting well-being within a supportive community environment.
  • Training & Assessment
Training & Assessment, also known as Adult Learning & Development, is a course designed to prepare educators in regulated (i.e. the VET sector) and non-regulated industries to confidently and professionally plan for and deliver training to individuals, small workgroups and classes of varying sizes. Incorporating the technical skills and knowledge necessary, facilitators/assessors are able to develop and administer assessments against nationally recognised qualifications and units.
