About
A gentle hello beautiful souls, I’m Susan Pickering, the heart behind Sacred Sankalpa. My journey is shaped by a deep love for people and a lifelong commitment to holding space for healing and transformation. With a background in counselling and many years of walking alongside individuals living with disability and mental health challenges, I’ve also serve as a minister in the Uniting Church in Australia. These experiences have taught me that presence, compassion, and ritual have the power to heal and honour every moment of the human journey. I currently offer 1:1 yoga tuition, small group yoga and meditation classes and meaningful religious celebrant services—creating space for connection, reflection, wellbeing and sacred moments.

- MeditationMeditation is an umbrella term for a number of practices that train the meditator to be present to their thoughts with awareness and without judgement. Counter to the conditioning of the mind/body system, positive effects of meditation can be heightened relaxation, the building of etheric energy and deeper awareness. Through either sustained focus, mindfulness, or the cultivation of compassion, meditation can clear the mind and ease many health concerns, such as high blood pressure, depression and anxiety.
- Yin YogaYin Yoga is a meditative form of Yoga based on Taoist principles, targeting deep connective tissues through passive, longer-held postures. Postures mainly focus on the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, and lower spine, held for three to five minutes or longer. Stressing the connective tissue helps lengthen and strengthen it. On an energetic level, each posture is associated with a different meridian, restoring harmony and increasing chi. Classes usually last 60 - 90 minutes, including pranayama, meditation, and asanas. Yin Yoga offers a profound and introspective practice, promoting flexibility, relaxation, and energetic balance.
- YogaA physical, mental and spiritual practice, Yoga is a Vedic tradition of India and the Himalayas dating more than 2,500 years. Classes are generally 1 - 1 ½ hrs in duration and incorporate physical postures and movement (asanas), breath exercises (pranayama), relaxation and concentration, philosophy, and meditation. Yoga benefits the physical and mental body by enhancing flexibility, improving muscle strength and tone, increasing body awareness, and promoting relaxation and calm.
- Civil CelebrantA Civil Celebrant is a professional who officiates over non-religious ceremonies, such as weddings, naming days, and funerals. They work with individuals or families to create personalised, meaningful ceremonies that reflect the values, beliefs, and desires of those involved. Celebrants are skilled in crafting unique rituals, readings, and vows that make each event special and memorable. They ensure that all legal requirements for the ceremony are met and guide clients through the process with care and professionalism. The scope of practice includes conducting ceremonies, preparing scripts, and offering support before, during, and after the event.
